TA-DA!
Ta-Da as a word is pure incantation: a spell for magic, the moment of voila and revelation. It is when the threshold between profane and sacred is crossed and the mystical, magical transcendental act occurs within a context of ordinary, common everyday reality. Both as vibe and theme, the word is perfectly indicative of the album’s playfulness and transformative character.
In a similar vein to John Milton's literary epic Paradise Lost, TA-DA! follows and proposes a radical new origin story for Lucifer and our fallen world. In TA-DA!, the Devil is gradually revealed through a hall of mirrors escapade to be running society’s show in his/her twisted machinations. As a result, the listener experiences throughout the album's unfolding a Jungian integration with one's Shadow complex into metamorphic transformation. Lucifer's journey is our own as we parse the immense complexity and implications of existence into a healed reconfiguration and understanding with the ground of our being. The listener is brought into new dimensional understanding of the soul’s redemption and the basis of divinity -- polygendered, non-binary and full of immense grace. With all due respect to the artist, the album is in many ways the antithesis to Kanye West’s Jesus Is King insofar as it presents a much more nuanced and finely attuned story of creation devoid of pre-given doctrine that fails to adequately address the actuality and complexity of our particular contemporary historical moment. Other prominent themes include sense vs nonsense, existentialism, the nature of being, the nature of language, whether the cosmos is inherently benevolent or malevolent, overcoming nihilism and the role of humour in serious artistry.
